What substance do doctors use for numbing if you get a nail removed?

I'm assuming that you're talking about a toenail or a fingernail here? Not a construction nail that you managed to get stuck into you?

Whenever I've had work done on my toenails or fingernails, including having them pulled to allow for a new one to grow in it's place, the doctor has used an injection of novacaine, just like a dentist uses for working on your teeth. Works great! What substance do doctors use for numbing if you get a nail removed?

ACETONE in a glass bowl to soak off. Cover with a towel whilst soaking to minimise vapour.
use garden shears
there is a product called get em off which you can buy from boots and other stores its about 拢3 it takes off nail varnish and false nails I have used it and its good. You just put some in a bowl and soak your nails for about 5 minutes and the nails just melt off, its a very good nail varnish remover too.
soak in acatone. You can buy it at any beauty supply store.

Happy Soaking!
You can soak them in hot water that usually loosens them up and they come off easier. Or you can try soaking them in acetone for the same effect.
BITE EM BITE EM BITE EM!!!!!
Bottle Opener???? Risk of broken fingers though...
If they are acrylic nails, you can soak them in an ACETONE nail polish remover. That is what they will do at a nail salon, but be patient, because it will take awhile. I have done this in the past, and it kind of makes me react the same way nails on a chalk board do. I really dislike the feeling, but if you are desperate, I would try that.

Also, if you want, you can go to Target or Walmart or wherever and find a manicure kit with an electric tool that has different heads (like a buffer, sander, polisher, etc). IF I were you, I would try to sand down my fake nails so that they are not very long, and let them get loose and fall off by themselves. This way, you will suffere the least amount of damage to your nail. Unfortunately, your nails will still be paper thin and break very easily for about six months or so. I would recommend buying a clear nail polish that ';hardens'; nails to give your nails a little extra protection (Try Sally Hansen's Hard as Nails)
Its REALLY hard, they sell this thing that you can soak them in. and after a few weeks you can soak them in nail polish remover, then pull them off, they will be week then.

DO NOT force them to come off NOW, or else you'll ruin your nails. or if they R just way too long, you can clip/cut them shorter.

Hope I helped

-good luck

How do I safely remove my gel nails, without having to spend money at the nail salon?

They grow out too fast, so I decided to remove them. How do I safely remove my gel nails, without having to spend money at the nail salon?
If you have real UV gel nails, then acetone will NOT remove it. Uv gels are non-porous, and therefore the acetone - or any other liquid, cannot readily penetrate the surface of the nail. Thus, they do not dissolve in acetone or any other solvent. Way to tell if you had real UV gels applied or not: Simple. If the tech used ANY liquid and powder on your nails, you have acrylic nails and yes, acetone will dissolve that. But if you had UV gels applied, and each individual layer was cured under a UV lamp for about 2 minutes, then you do have UB gel nails. UV nail gel looks exactly as the name implies - a gel. It is not a powder. Here is a pic of some UV nail gels made by a very reputable professional nail product company:

    http://www.cnd.com/Home/homelink-consume鈥?/a>

That is exactly what UV nail gels look like. If you had this applied to your nails - and NO liquid and powder, then the nails must be filed off by an experienced and highly skilled nail tech. It's not easy to file these off, so that is why I emphasize the fact that you must go to someone who has lots of experience in the removal of UV gel nails. An unskilled tech will ruin your nails so fast it isn't funny. Seriously, you need to have them filed off by someone really good at this. Whatever you do, make sure the tech does NOT pry them off, or force them off in any way at all. This WILL cause serious damage to your natural nails and it will hurt a LOT too.

Good luck! How do I safely remove my gel nails, without having to spend money at the nail salon?
I had UV gel nails and decided to have my nail tech remove them. She pried them off. It hurt like hades! I had previously tried acetone and it does not work on real UV gel nails. Do not believe anyone who tells you it does!

Soak them in acetone (you can buy that at the grocery store...its like a strong nail polish remover) for 15-30 minutes..but before you put them in coat your nails in vaseline so the acetone doesn't dry out or mess up your skin in any way....acetone is some strong stuff! Good luck! :]
yaah there isnt exaclty a safe way but soaking them in pure acetone. not nail polish remover just pure acetone. soak em for about 10-20 min. and just wipe em off. or just go get your nails redone or get a filll~! :]

Goofoff should work, it does anything!
nail polish remover, mr clean and you should be good to go girl
    i dunno
    Goo Gone and alcohol mixed
You could use some nail polish remover on a Q-Tip, but be really careful because it may take off the finish. If it is only in one spot go for it, but if it is all over, I would maybe try something like adhisive remover and see if it would work. Also, you could always go into a local hardware store and see if they have any ';wonder'; products that you could try. Good luck :)
yeah, googone, but be careful how u use it.
take something and chip it off or if its stuck inside the keys try flipping the laptop upside down and bang the back of it so maybe the glue will pop out and the key will pop up
Depending on where it is, nail polish remover will work. Put some on a cotton ball and soak the spot with glue until it comes off. Just make sure it is no where near or on the screen or speakers!

Also, be sure the laptop is unplugged and turned off while doing this. Sounds a bit extreme but its better to be safe than sorry.
tisk tisk tisk.... nail polish remover, but it depends where the nail glue is.
well NOT nail polish remover, it will take the paint off ur laptop

soak them in acetone or vinegar for about 30 minutes. use tweezers and just ease them off gently.

if you don't want to risk your hand, you can simply wait for them to fall off
nail polish remover? of course it didn't work.

Use acetone. and you have to let them soak for a while. 20~30 minutes then take tweezers and gently pull them off.
Acetone will take them off. I pour some in a bowl off marbles and play with them tell they come off or a bag of cotton balls.

    You need Pure Acetone.

How do I remove a nail from a tree?

In my yard there is a tree with a nail in in that I would really like to remove. I tried pulling at it with the forked end of the hammer, but it won't budge. Any tips? (It's driven in at an angle...in case that makes a difference.)How do I remove a nail from a tree?
Unless the nail is made of copper (most likely it's not), just drive it in the rest of the way. The tree will grow around it.

Damaging the bark while pulling it out is more harmful to the tree than just letting it be.How do I remove a nail from a tree?
    Cut it off short, drive in rest was the best answer, but remember to cover the little area with a bit is vaseline, after your done. This will help keep bugs and other nasties out while that part of the tree heals over. By the time the vaseline wears off, the tree will have ';scabbed over';
Cut the tree down right above or right below where the nail is. You may need to go back after the initial cut and cut again -- the goal is to expose the part of nail that's in the tree. Once you've cut through the trunk, it should be pretty easy now to pry the nail out.
How is the tree, leaves still grow on it?Pull it out as far as you can, using a pry bar and a piece of 2x4 to protect bark.If you can get it all the way out, this is best.Fill hole with a little glue and a stick from the tree and jam it in the hole, cut off excess.
Get a wrecking bar (crow bar) that has a much longer end than a hammer. Before you pull the nail, be sure to put a block of wood or something else that is hard, against the tree bark against which you can pull. That way, you will avoid damage to the bark.
put a long piece of pipe over the hammer handle, and a piece of wood or any thing about a inch or inch and a half for a fulcrum (pivot point) under the hammer head this will increase you pulling power by 50% you may wanna try a little penetrating oil on it as well.
Dig out the bark enough to grab it with a pair of Vice Grips

lock the Grips onto the nail at it's tightest possible setting and pry the nail out on the rounded edge of the vice grips.

The tree will love you for helping it out.
A wrecking bar is good but before you try to pull the nail out first give it a few taps in to break any rust bond that may have formed.
cut it off at the tree and drive the rest in.

How do u remove nail varnish on nails without using a nail varnish remover?
Paint a fresh coat (any color- but clear works best) on your nail, let sit for 5-10 seconds and then wipe your nail off with a wet wash cloth (cotton balls works too, and are less messy- but take a little more effort than a wash cloth)

After doing this to each nail, wash and rinse your hands (paying close attention to your nails) in hot soapy water.

Use a nail file (electronic preferably) on the tops of your nails to scrape off any left over polish.
You don't. You must remove polish remover.
Sharp knife - lots of scraping, great care.
    use petrol
Pick it off or add a fresh coat then wipe off the wet paint immediately. Not as good as proper remover but ok in an emergency. Oh and I discovered (accidentally) this summer that DEET insect repellant removes nail polish.

Acetone. It's harsh, but does the trick. Nails breath and that's how they grow so women should only put nail hardner (if they have weak nails) just up to the white moon of the nail (the moon is what breaths.) When you want to put nail color on (don't have it on all the time) then you can cover the moon of the nail.

Fingernail polish and automotive paint are the same thing. Only difference is nail polish has glycerin added for shelf life.

Normal polish remover is just acetone, a product used in automotive and many other places. The clear you put on your nails is just like auto clearcoat for cars.

Saying that... to remove nail polish w/o chemicals... just look at automotive items. There are hand cleaners out there for auto painters that are non toxic and remove such items from hands. Permetex is one of these makers.

Just a matter of scrubbing your hands as if you were washing them and it will come right off. Since its on your nails, maybe a fingernail brush to help get the corners. Won't dry out your hands or cause them to be rough. Used it for years.

I do auto paint work, and about 10 yrs ago I was looking at starting a nail polish company. Was trying to invent the instant dry polish. But Revlon beat me to the punch so I stuck with just auto paint.

So the next time you get a chip on your car.... nail polish is fine to use no matter how many men scream at you. Actually you are doing more good than they are w/ their store bought touch up paint bottles. I won't even get into how wrong that stuff is.

    How to remove nail polish?

I am all out of nail polish remover! Is there any way to remove it without the remover? If it helps I have tried rubbing alcohol but it doesn't seems like its helping a whole lot. And I wouldn't mind any other tips for healthy nails...But most importantly how can I get the nail polish off!How to remove nail polish?
Sometimes you can get nail polish off by painting another coat of polish on top and then immediately wiping or washing it off before it can dry again.

I also found an interesting article about how you can use spray deodorant to clean the polish off. I've never tried it, but this is the link to the article http://www.wikihow.com/Remove-Nail-Polish-Without-Using-RemoverHow to remove nail polish?
Any product containing acetone or methyl-ethyl-ketone (MEK) will remove nail polish. This can include many paint-thinning or removal products, including lacquer thinner. However, these products can rapidly dehydrate human skin, and are highly flammable.

In addition, pure acetone has a flash point similar to gasoline (petrol) and vapours can be ignited by a nearby flame... it can also dissolve lots of common plastics....

Consumer nail polish remover is actually 60% acetone. But the remainder is moisturizers and water to reduce the impact on the skin, and to make it safer to use....

Polish can also be dissolved with more (wet) nail polish. It is recommended that this be done with clear nail polish, one finger at a time.

While DEET, the active ingredient in insect repellent, may also be effective, it is not recommended; it is also very damaging to many household plastics.

Another alternative is to use use peel-off nail polish instead.

also Acetone and alchol Do not peel the polish or your nails will turnbrittle also top of nail may peel off aswell.

If this is all too much trouble, nail-polish can be simply removed by first wetting the nails with water and then repolishing your nails while they are still wet with the same nail-polish.

This may have to be done twice according to the strength of the nail-polish

Or you can just buy some more nail polish remover. Live with it, or maybe just pick it off? Good luck!
If you used a clear base coat before you applied the nail polish, then you should be able to peel it right off.

One of the reasons I rarely wear nail polish is because I always end up peeling it off within an hour after it dries.
You can do it with new wet nailpolish, but I also found that sunscreen works too. lol...just rub it into your nails until it comes off. =]
Just paint a coat every 5 minutes as soon as it dries. Then in an hour, it will be so thick, you can peel it off!
chip it off with your fingernails.
If you have clear nail polish, dab a bit on each nail and scratch it off. It comes out easily!
u cud buy some remover, or live with the polish or pick it off :D

...or maybe it wouldn't work...try spirit, then, or something of the same evaporating nature.
Put the item in a plastic bag then place in the freezer. After a few hours take the item out and peel off the varnish. Simple.
hair spray, yes that's right hair spray or acetate (acetate is in hair spray and nail polish remover).
freeze then pick really is the best way
    try neat white spirit
    Scissors
lots of salt in water and boil for 5 minutes.good luck.

    Best of luck honey.
    use spirit or petrol
The best thing I've found that you can use is acetone. Make sure the nail polish remover has acetone in it (some polish removers are acetone free, which is easier on your nail but doesn't remove the polish very well).

to put anymore polish on its going to look very streaky and cheap.

So wait till you get home and always use a good quality nail polish remover.

    Hope i helped! :)♥♥
the way i would do it is just put a clear polish on over it and then wipe it off immediately.

that will take it off but if you want it completely off what i do is take it off with my teeth. may sound nasty but just spit it out lol
I don't know if this will work for you but it works for me...

i just take an ugly shitty ol' color that i know i won't use and paint over the previous nail polish and immediately wipe off.

How can I remove my nail extensions at Home??

I have had Nail Extensions on for 2 Weeks and the extensions are Acrylic. I am getting sick of them now and I can't play the Piano with them on. People say '; Just cut them Shorter';, but I want them off completely. Also, someone told me that you have to back to the place that put them on for you, but I'd prefer taking them off myself. Please Help. By the way, I've tried soaking them in Warm and Hot Water, and I've also tried soaking them in ACETONE. They just wont budge. How can I remove my nail extensions at Home??
Oh, I know what you mean, but you have to soak them FOREVER in pure acetone. It takes quite awhile and I'd take mine out every now and then and scrap some of the goo off. They get slimy after awhile. It takes a long time. How can I remove my nail extensions at Home??
Cut them as short as you can. Then soak them in finger nail polish remover. Not for just a few minutes though, more like 10 minutes.

At the nail salon that's all they do to get mine off. They cut them short soak them in acetone, file them , soak them, file them, soak them, and finally, there's nothing left
you are just going to have to cut them. and keep cutting them until your nail grows out.

You want to keep it elevated to minimize blood flow to the extremity. The smartest move would be to have your friend shuttle you over to an ER, where they will be able to remove the boot and take the nail out without having to worry about tearing and artery, vein or a nerve. If the nail went though a boot and into your foot any more than a millimeter or two the you really do need to be admitted. You run the risk of tetanus plus a thousand other pathogens that can result in an infection, gangrene, or possibly amputation. Don't mess around- head to the ER. If you can find some really basic acetone product then that would maybe work. I'm thinking that nail polish remover is actually toned down somewhat because you are putting it on your fingers and such. So if you can get some of the chemical base that is used in nail polish that would probably be a lot stronger and maybe it would work better.

Don't use nail polish remover unless it does not contain acetone. That area in the carpet would turn white. I found out that using a combination of NON-CHLORINE bleach and a touch of dish soap works well. Only one problem, that part of the carpet will be clean -- the rest? Mix 1/3 cup of the non chlorine bleach, a good squeeze of dish soap in 1 cup of water. MIX, MIX, add a few drops, let it sit (5min) get a wash cloth, dip in mix, rub, dip and rub, it will disappear. I recently had this dilema myself. I looked online %26amp; a carpet cleaning guy said to take fingernail polish remover and put it on a rag %26amp; dab the rag on the spots where the fingernail polish is located on the carpet. You must make sure not to pour the fingernail polish remover directly on the carpet or it will discolor the carpet %26amp; ruin the backing. I used a wet rag...poured the nail polish remover on the rag %26amp; then dabbed it on the carpet. You may have to do this several times %26amp; be sure to use a clean part of the rag each time you dab the place on the carpet. It worked for me!

Once it is dry, you are pretty S.O.L.

If the area is small enough, you can clip the fibers with sizzors.

If you have a scrap of the same carpet, you can use a knife to cut out the stain and cut a patch out of the extra and use double stick tape to put it in place.

Is removing acrylic nails with acetone dangerous when your pregnant?

Wear one of those masks like the nail people wear. So you dont breath the stuff in. Its really bad for you! im not sure that it would soak through your skin....

why not just cut them off!? ....that is how i take mine off...soaking them takes a long time. i just cut it so it cracks and most are easy to take off. it does a lot of damage to my nails but i would rather do that than harm my unborn child! Is removing acrylic nails with acetone dangerous when your pregnant?
I was told that you AREN'T supposed to get acrylic nails period during pregnancy because of the chemicals. And plus, when they are almost done with the nails and they're filing them down for a 2nd or 3rd time, the stuff can get underneath your nails and then into your system and harm the baby. But, taking them off with acetone shouldn't affect the baby at all. You should be fine with that.Is removing acrylic nails with acetone dangerous when your pregnant?
No, it has no effect on the baby. But getting into your systems is very bad!

    I would try Rubbing Alcohol....
just put a coat of any color nail polish and then wipe it off immediately with a tissue. trust me it works lol i had to do this when i ran out of nail polish.
apply a nail polish and wipe with effort. usually it works.
    peel it off
If all else fails, file your nails with a nail file (you can find a nail file inside most nail clippers) , and nail polish comes off. Then wash your hands, and apply hand lotion to smoothness.
Try a bit of alcohol (spirits) on your nails. This will work a treat with a bit of effort.
Not sure how well this will work but you can try painting on another layer of nail polish and then wiping all of it off within 5 to 10 seconds.

You can also soak them in water for half an hour and then try peeling the polish off with your nails.
Pick at it. I have done it. If you start at the base of the nail it is easiest. If you put on a few more coats and let it dry and then do it, it makes it easier.
go to the hardware store and buy a big container of acetone. cheap as and get more for your money. or watch a scary movie and chew it off

Is there a way to remove the nail polish remover dripped onto wooden furniture?

no - it burns the varnish off the wood so you need to re-varnish that bit of the furnitureIs there a way to remove the nail polish remover dripped onto wooden furniture?
Nail polish remover is acetone. Finish on wood furniture is lacquer based products. Acetone removes lacquer based products. The drips are now permanent stains unless you refinish the wood.

Now if the wood is not finished and is just natural. Then you can sand it out.Is there a way to remove the nail polish remover dripped onto wooden furniture?
    You're mis-stating the problem.

The problem isn't REMOVING the REMOVER... the problem is the REMOVER - dissolved the VARNISH finish on your wooden furniture.

The answer is to put the finish back...

Put down newspaper in your garage or porch...

Go to get HOME DEPOT (or that kind of store of your choice)

and get some ACRYLIC Varnish.... choose the original luster, SHINY / semi gloss - be sure it says ';CLEAR';...

Then in small strokes blend the new varnish to the old...

Do the whole top if necessary - let dry 24 hours.

These cans cost about 8 bucks. (not bad, eh?)
you can not remove the polish remover..it has done its job of removing the finish from your furniture..now, go you a craft shop and get a small refinish kit in the right color
No, you need to sand it and refinish the whole piece, or just put something over the spot to cover it , like a vase, candle it all depends where the stop is tough!
Unfortunately no. I've done it several times, you can clean it off but it strips the wood surface.
You have to use nail varnish remover and then get some wood varnish, dnt rub the nail nail varnish too hard
oooooh, i have done that before, it totally took the finish off the furniture.
    just wipe it up.....

    then redo the furniture:(

soak in acetone then it dissolves the fake nail so just pick it off little by little repeat as necessary
put acetone in a bowl then get a bigger bowl and fill it with hot water put the bowl of acetone inside it but don't let the hot over flow into the acetone( the warm water helps dissolve the acrylic quicker). Then soak your nails inside and just use your nails and scrape off the acrylic as it gets soft and after a bit dump out the old acetone and put some fresh in there and repeat once more then you should be done. Take a file to them the buff them out to make them look better again.
put you hands in hot water if you got them done at the solon and put them in warm water if you put them on yourself and let them sit there for a while
    Pull them off!

gum. Take gum, and stick it on your nail polish. When you pull off the gum off after 3 minutes the nail polish will come off two (unless you used a clear ontop of the nail polish)How can I remove my nail polish?
take some clear polish and put it over that and take something and wipe it off

    hoped it helped :)
    scratch ur nails in water
scratch your nails in/under running water. after take a piece of tape or chewed up gum, stick it on your nail, push it down HARD and then pull up. repeat several times for each nail-- you may need to change the piece. after just chip at it with your other nails. hope i helped and good luck! xoxo
Try chipping it off. Other than that, it's pretty hard to remove.
I was like that and I just scraped off my nail polish with running water in my sink in my bathroom, and soon some of the nail polish just dissapeared off my finger, then 1 week later I did the same thing on Monday and Friday and 1 week later the nail polish all came off of my fingers.

How to heal a ingrown nail that was removed?

I had my ingrown nail removed from the side of my toe. So now i have a toe nail that is smaller. What do most people do to help heal that part of their foot? How to heal a ingrown nail that was removed?
keep it bandaged up for a while... hopefully the doctor who removed it told you that! If you soak your toe with epsom salt it will pull any pus out and keep the skin soft for the nail that will grow back. clean it with rubbing alcohol (i know, ouch.) and then wrap it up with neosporin and gauze. How to heal a ingrown nail that was removed?
OMG I HAD THE SAME EXACT THING THAT HAPPENED TO ME!!!! lol, ok here is what you do.

soak your foot twice a day in warm NOT HOT water, with about 2 tablespoons of regular salt you find in your kitchen.Do this twice a day. Keep it covered with a band aid for at least a couple weeks, your toenail will go back to its normal size, mine did, and if u got it done correctly, the result is phenominal!! Change the dressing after every time you soak it, get a shower, or get it wet.

PS make sure when u got it u got the permanent kind, when i got it the first time it wasn't permanent, i got it back in 6 months, and then i got it done at a different doctor permanently, make sure they do a special procedure, you make have to ask ur doctor to make sure its the permanent kind!!

  • How do you remove dried nail polish from the carpet?

To remove carpet stains caused by nail polish, just use nail polish remover! Pour onto a cotton ball or clean cloth and blot until the polish has disappeared. Blot again with clean water to remove all residue. Remember, when cleaning carpet stains, especially those made by nail polish, it's important to blot. Don't rub or the nail polish will spread. How do you remove dried nail polish from the carpet?

nail polish remover is the best idea ever.
Nail polish remover would be my guess. I don't think it will change your carpet color, but I would do a test spot just to be sure.
That's a tough one.The only way to remove it is to get a magnifying glass, get right down on it with a small pair of manicure scissors, and cut it out fiber by fiber.Hopefully,it is not in a prominent place.Otherwise, you will have a hard time getting it out once it is dry.Sorry!

It depends on the kind of floor-- on tile, any nail polisher remover should be okay. If vinyl, make sure it's acetone-free and even so, it may still strip the protective surface coat. You may want to be sure and apply some floor wax, if it's vinyl.Sorry about other ?,but i meant to ask about how to remove nail polish on bathroom floor?
I have used nonacetone nail polish remover to get nail polish off of my counter top. It worked better than anything else I have tried in the past.
make sure it is acitone free nail polish remover. that will work for you but if it has acitone in it it will ruin the floor
Try some nail polish remover, just like for your nails.
If it's a tile floor, nail polish remover.

First, dab acetone (or a non-oily fingernail polish remover) on an inconspicuous area of the leather to test for colorfastness and to make sure no damage occurs. If there's no damage sponge the stained area with the acetone (or polish remover) until no more color is being removed. If acetone damages the surface, use amyl acetate instead. If this doesn't work, sponge with alcohol (test first). Hope This Works. How do you remove nail polish off a lether sofa!!! HELP NOW MY FRIEND WILL GET IN TROUBLE!!?
    Nail polish remover.
    nail polish remover or oxiclean
just use nail varnish remover put a little bit on a t shirt and rub it on the stain carefully.
hmmm tough call....leather is very touchy if it is suede I think your screwed if not i would try a watered down solution of nail polish remover and water very watered down....just a guess though
Sometimes if it is smooth leather you can maybe use Vegetable oil to soften and then peel it off...
if it's wet still try to wipe it up without smearing or if it's dry try to pick it off. well hope this helps
Nailpolish should work but test it first on a place on the couch where no one would notice first. make sure you blot the spot don't rub. any use either a cotton ball or and soft cotton cloth

Terps works. Happened to me just the other day and i used it and it came off really well. Just make sure that you wash your hands really well afterwards. Other than that, you could always paint over it or get a gentle file buffer and buff it off your nails, but make sure its a soft one or it may make your nails look white-ish.

    Good luck honey x

What is the title of the book where a young girl had to remove red nail polish with perfume?

I read this book years ago, I think she was from a well to do family, she had a younger brother, I don't think her mother was alive, there was a nanny/caretaker. I think it was set in Manhattan. One day she went out and got her hair done, a manicure with red polish, and bought some perfume that she really liked. Her father was furious with her at the dinner table and made the caretaker remove the polish with her new perfume.

  • Why was my sister told to remove her nail varnish before going for surgery?

She had nail varnish on her toe nails which the nurse made her remove before going for surgery - why?Why was my sister told to remove her nail varnish before going for surgery?
because we use a device called a pulse oximeter that reads the amount of oxygen in the blood of the extremities (fingers or toes or ear lobe) - it is like a peg onto one of these spots - it cannot read through nail varnish. Sometimes due to the positioning of the person in operating room it is necessary to use the toes rather than the fingers. It is a way of letting the anaesthetist know that the patient is being well oxygenated and the breathing tube and machine are working properly. Why was my sister told to remove her nail varnish before going for surgery?
in case the nail varnish could flake off and get into where ever shes having surgery the have to be so careful
because they monitor your finger / nail color while you are under anestesia and have to be able to see the natural color.
Apparently the nurses, drs, surgeon look at your nails to see the blood flow is OK while your 'under' during the operation and this obviously can't be seen if the nails have varnish on them (I asked the same before surgery last year).
It's something about how the doctors need to check peoples' nails regularly to make blood is pumping regularly I think. They want to make sure the skin under the nail is pink.

If someone is wearing bright red nailpolish, and their fingers go blue, that could be a problem

will be used to accurately monitor your oxygen level during surgery.
they want to keep the surgery as sterile as possible maybe? esp. if it was surgery on her foot.
    maybe if affects sumthing
coz oxygen saturation levels cant be read over nail polish so they cannot determine how much oxygen is circulating in ur blood, which is very important because it determines whether u are breathing in enough oxygen
Because they check the colour of your nails to work out if you are short on oxygen.
Because they look at the colour of the nails when you are knocked out - something to do with the vital signs or something like that - when you have had surgery your mouth and nails are a bluish colour and they need to make sure everything is right when you are asleep and when you come round
because it clashed with the turqoise night gowns.
Was it toenail surgery? Maybe she should have eaten more cotton candy and then she would not have needed to have surgery in the first place.
I'm not positive, but I think that either it blocks an x-ray view somehow or messes with them checking capillary refill.
Maybe the surgeon didn't like the colour.
i had to take mine off as well as m.u before an op to take my wisdom teeth out and its cos they like to keep evrything sterile.

After removing fake nails, I now have a permanent crack in one of my nails. How can I cure this?

I have tried an anti-fungal ointment and tea tree oil but neither one helped. After removing fake nails, I now have a permanent crack in one of my nails. How can I cure this?
I've been told that what I have from the last time I had acrylic nails (maybe it's different than yours?) is internal damage and there's nothing that can be done to reverse it, but it WAS caused by the drills or the harsh removal of the acrylic. I have a smooth, white line running right up the center of my right thumb nail and when it grows out, it's actually thinner on the underneath side of the nail so it breaks or splits BADLY and very easily. Not good. I'm gonna watch this post and see if there's other suggestions or you describe your damage better for us. THANKS!After removing fake nails, I now have a permanent crack in one of my nails. How can I cure this?
Ahh, sorry - I've been told there's nothing I can do about it ...from my (NEW) manicurist to my Dr.!

This has happened to me. I bought vitamen E capsuls, broke them open and rubbed it on the area. It worked for me.
When my finger nail cracks down the middle I eat more jello. It takes a while to grow back, but it works.
You should only wear fake nails 3 days at a time. Leave them off for 2 days. Your nails need air to stay healthy. To make your nails stronger, eat gelitan, a.k.a. JELL-O. It takes time to repair or grow out the crack.
Hopefully you can grow it out - which in that case, you can just clip it off, albeit it may ACTUALLY be permanent ..
This may be an emotional issue due to the fact that nothing physical is helping. Each finger muscle stores different emotions, if you want to know, which finger is it???
It's not really curable, you just have to let it grow out. nails do grow pretty quick, it will probably be completely grown out to the point where you can clip it off for your next manicure in about a month. I would not recommend getting new fake nails on it until after it has grown out becuase of the risk of fungal growth between the real and fake nails. Continue to apply the antifungal ointment in the meantime though and it should be good as new in a month.

What can you use to remove a nail polish remover stain from a counter top?

Nail polish remover contains acetone (very volatile solvent). It doesn't stain finished surfaces. Rather, it melts them. So, you're looking at refinishing the surface to get rid of the ';stain';.What can you use to remove a nail polish remover stain from a counter top?
I doubt there is much you can do since it is not actually a stain, but an etching in the surface. What can you use to remove a nail polish remover stain from a counter top?
Nail polish remover...because it can remov that stuff from anywhere.
Yep, It isn't a stain, it's what is left after the stain stripped off the top layers of counter-top [I'm guessing this is a post-formed laminate counter-top] It ate through the top protective layer and is exposing the other layers.

Acetone is mainly used in the manufacturing industry for dissolving most anything that is a resin base [nail polish, contact cements, fiberglass resins, etc], but is also the main ingredieat in polish remover. It will severely dry out organic materials, like your skin, wood, tanned leather, wool based products, etc.

Try acetone it is found in the paint dept. at home depot it will loosen up the liquid nailIs there something that I can use to remove liquid nail ?
Flood underneath the rail with lacquer thinner. It'll dissolve the glue easily. Use an old knife to separate the rail from the tile and tub.
When I remodel bathrooms and I take panels down that were glued up and shower door frames that were glued or caulked I use a heat gun, [hair blower will also work] to soften up the glue, then it will scrape right off.
Careful with the acetone... I worked with this stuff for years.. and if you have a plastic enclosure, youll damage it... if its painted steel... you could ruin the paint finish.

Surprising enough, you can use a fishing line (thats right, a fishing line) to remove thick build up of caulk and liquid nail. You might want to wrap it around something other than your fingers, to draw it back and forth, so you dont cut your fingers... but this WILL remove the adhesive. Works great on mirrors glued to walls with liquid nail, or mastic too.

Another option is to us a plastic putty knife...and it helps if you get the glue good and cold first... you can do this with ice, but Ive found that the ';cold spray'; you find in the first aid department at stores works very well for this, and gum. I suggest a plastic putty knife (as stiff as you can find) so that you dont scratch the tub surface.

    I was taking off my nail polish last night and really had to scrub to take off the 2 layers. I had a cotton swab pressed between my nail and the pad of my thumb. I washed my hands and went to sleep. When I woke up this morning, the pad of my thumb felt numb and smelled like acetone. I accidentally rubbed 1 of my eyes and now its irritated.     ';When your favorite fire engine red polish takes a spill, it can produce quite a scare! But to make sure you only show off the color on your nails, apply nail polish remover to the stain and lightly blot the stain with dry paper towels. An important caution: Make sure to test the nail polish remover on an inconspicuous area of your clothing, furniture or carpet to make sure the item is colorfast. Next, apply dishwashing or laundry detergent mixed with warm water to remove any residual tint. If the stain remains, you may also want to try a 50-50 mixture of hydrogen peroxide and water. Apply it to the stain, gently blotting, until it vanishes completely.';

White toe nail after removing nail polish?

I removed my nail polish tonight, that had been on for a couple weeks. I noticed that the nail on my big toe had turned a white-ish color, from the base to the top. My nail has not changed in any other ways, no thickening, no crumbling, no breaking etc and none of my other toe nails have anything wrong with them.

I take good care of my feet, so I don't think it could be a fungus, but who knows. This has never happened to me before either and I have never had any problems with my nails in the past. My toe does not hurt, although it does feel like there is a slight pressure on the nail. It is very possible I could have injured my toe in some way, and just don't remember it. So would injury cause this, or is it something else? Should I wait it out and see if it just heals on its own, or get some treatment?White toe nail after removing nail polish?

There is remover for natural nails and remover for acrylic nails. You need the kind for acrylic nails. But you must rub it hard not like regular nail polish. And to avoid getting gross looking nails from polishing, ALWAYS use a base coat so that there is a layer of clear between your nail and the polish. That prevents discolored nails. So that way natural nails will look pretty when not polished.Removing nail polish!!! help!?!?
Soak your fingers in non-acetone nail polish remover and then remove the polish. Good Luck!

This didn't happen to me. Just buy the most expensive nail polish remover and put it on the nails. If it doesn't come off, why don't you sue the company? That's what I would do!

try rubbing alchol. u can buy it at a pharmacy. or keep scratching it off or go to a nail..doer. a person who does nails. another way is put wet nail polish over the one tht wont come off and wipe it off while it's still wet.

    hope these help!

If all else fails, go to Sally's and get a bottle of acetone and use that. Use a real good moisturizing lotion on your hands afterwards because it dries them out.

Removing Nail Polish from a Leather Purse! HELP!?

I had a brand new bottle of nail polish in my leather purse (which has a cloth liner) . My cat knocked my purse off my counter and I didn't think anything of it, just picked up my purse and put it away. Next day, opened up my purse to get my wallet and there was nail polish all over everything. I have gotten it off my keys, cell phone, and threw out the wallet (which wasn't very nice). What is the safest way to remove false nail extensions with silk wraps?

Either go back to the salon to have them removed or use this method I use on clients

Get half a cotton wool ball , soak it in pure acetone and place on your nail, then wrap your thumb tip in a small piece of kitchen foil. Repeat on the remaining 4 fingers of one hand. After 10 minutes gently remove your thumb from its foil pod and buff off any softened resin and replace in the foil pod, do this on the other nails repeating until its all gone. Once one hand is done you do the other hand. When you are all done treat your nails to some cuticle oil...acetone is very drying

You can either go to the salon and pay them to take them off for you.

Or soak your nails in acetone until the wraps fall off. But you're going to have to buff your nail bed after you are done to smooth it down. Also you can use nail polish with calcium in it to restore your nails. It helped my real nails to grow back, fast, healthy and strong. What is the safest way to remove false nail extensions with silk wraps?
Prob best to soak them in acetone. use something like an egg cup, fill with acetone and leave one finger at a time in it for a few minutes, take finger out, remove surface of nail with a tissue or cotton wool and then replace in the acetone and repeat. Takes a while but its gentler than filling them off, maybe set aside an evening for the task, when fully removed soak your cuticles with cuticle oil and use a good hand and nail cream. leave to rest before using nail varnish etc.
Go to the salon and pay to have them remove it.

After removing acrylic nails, how do I restore my natural nails back to a healthy state?

I removed the nails at home, using pure acetone, it was a long and tedious task, my natural nails look crappy to say the least, what can I do at home to restore them to health? After removing acrylic nails, how do I restore my natural nails back to a healthy state?
If you peeled any part of the acrylic nails off, you also peeled off some of the top layers of your natural fingernails. Nothing you can do about it but wait for new nail to grow out. By a good quality clear protective nail polish. Use several coats to help strengthen your nails until they grow out. Clip them as they grow above the nail bed to avoid having them tear. If you see spots of discoloration (green, brown), you probably have nail fungus. If it isn't bad, it will grow out. If you still notice the discoloration after the nail new nail has completely grown in, you need to see a doctor to have it treated. After removing acrylic nails, how do I restore my natural nails back to a healthy state?
file them slighty.... grow them back.... and leave the things alone..
this is what i do, i have long nails and get acrylic or gel put n top of them, ever since i was 16. ur doing good with the acetone, but while ur soaking, every 15 minutes or so, after u rub off some of the goo ( u do have paper towels handy to help u along the process of taking the acrylic off right?) well u take one of the files thats usually white, and square, kinda like a sponge ( i forget what its called) and file a little bit, after all that crap is off ur nails, file ur natural nail with it ( i just rmembered, its called a BUFF) but dont do it too much or u'll wear them real thin. put some vitamin oil on the nail and then some clear nail polish if u want. cut them down a little so they'll grow stronger. hope this helps a little bit.:o)
You need to go to a nail technician and see if she has a reconditioning kit that you can purchase from her or if she will order one for you. It consist of a strengthener and a conditioning polish that will help add moisture and strength back to your natural nail. It will take several months to get them back into shape, but you will have nice natural nails that will need nothing but a good manicure instead of nail enhancements.
It really is time that will restore them. Patience! It does take quite sometime, but the only way to rid of all the damage acrylics do is to let new nails grow out. You can do slight filing to help with any massive ridges or peeling. But other than that, time. Good Luck!
try gelatin by knox{ you soak your nails in the gelatin},and adding more protien to your daily diet.
Try some clear nail polish that has strengthens your nails. I use salley hansen Hard as Nails. It works for me. Good luck!

  • How to remove false nail glue?

I recently put on false nails, then decided i didnt like them and gently eased them off. I still have the glue on my fingernails, how can i remove this. I do not have any nail varnish remover and am unable to go and get some today. But i would like the gllue off today. Any suggestions? eg - around the house things? How to remove false nail glue?
You can try soaking your hands in really warm water, to see if the heat will allow you to pick at the glue after it has been softened. But if you do, it can actually hurt, as your natural nail is poked and prodded, which can cause stress on your nail matrix, causing damage to the new nail that is forming. I'd either leave the glue on until I could get some remover, or talk to a friend or neighbor to see if you can borrow some. How to remove false nail glue?
go to walmart and buy 100% acetone and soak your hand in it. its by the nail polish remover
Try nail polish remover with Acetone. This works like magic! Soak your nails in the solution and they should pop off.
If your house hold stuff does have turpentine or thinner, it can do the trick. I must remind you as much as it is cheap and effective it is poisonous. Do not use it near kids or eat after using it. U can take a small plastic unused bowl and pour a little of the thinner in it and wipe of the glue with some cotton balls. After successfully removing the glue, wash off the container and your hands really thoroughly. With a handsoap that is antibacterial and wipe off the water and immediately apply hand cream. Hopefully it does the trick.
