What substance do doctors use for numbing if you get a nail removed?

I'm assuming that you're talking about a toenail or a fingernail here? Not a construction nail that you managed to get stuck into you?





Whenever I've had work done on my toenails or fingernails, including having them pulled to allow for a new one to grow in it's place, the doctor has used an injection of novacaine, just like a dentist uses for working on your teeth.
